Having been lifelong enthusiasts of the Art Deco movement in all its forms, it is natural that Mitchell Motors would have a special affection for classic vehicles that engage this area of design.

Typically being built between 1925 and the early 1940's, Art Deco inspired cars have wonderful design features including technology and aerodynamic influences, patterning and the use of geometric form. The materials used are often opulent and lavish such as lacquer, inlaid wood, mother of pearl and exotic skins such as shark, zebra and ostrich. The coachbuilders creating these vehicles included Figoni & Falaschi, Brandone, Gangloff, Pourtout and Corsica. A truly wonderful motoring age.

Specific to cars, the "Streamline Moderne" Art Deco movement ran parallel to mainstream Art Deco and focused on the aerodynamic styling of a vehicle, featuring sweeping lines, symmetry, V -shapes, patterning and chrome grills.

Having restored Art Deco cars such as the beautiful Bugatti Atalante pictured below and a Delage D8 120 Aerosport: whose restoration was deemed so good it was the subject of a magazine article: we are one of the few restorers with actual experience of restoring this type of car.
